When the message is clear, everything begins to fall in to place. Yet, what is the message?
And what is this whole thing we are even talking about?
Well if you’ve found your way to this post and you’re just getting to know me, or you’re finding your way on to my list, or you’re relatively new to me, let me explain what you are about to experience.
What I have decided to do is to put together a series of videos that are going to help create the foundation for you so that you can build a successful online business.
Now in the previous post, which was the first post of this series, we talked about how you need to identify your target market if your goal is to make more money and to build a substantial enterprise.
Now if you are not interested in making more money and you just want to harass your friends and family and to have a couple of sales here and there and you’re not interested in creating financial freedom with the power of the internet. Then this information probably isn’t for you.
However, if you are serious about making a substantial extra income, and you want to be able to walk away from your job. Have more time with your friends and family, and spend your time doing what you desire, or if you want to do any of those types of things and you want to do it from the comfort of your own home, then continue reading.

This post is going to take the process one step forward, we are going to talk about creating the message for your target market.
Who Will Receive The Message?
Now just to recap what we discussed in the first post in this series.
Your target market was all about you identifying who you are speaking to in your marketing. By using your demographics, psycho- graphics, and the socio graphic economic indicators to help you nail down specifically who would be the ideal candidate to receive your product.
And not only that, yet who would be the ideal candidate that is already looking to buy your product, as well as being ready, willing and able to buy the product.
See it makes more since to sale things to people who are already looking for that product, service or opportunity.
If you’re trying to convince people and change people’s mind and make unhealthy people be healthy or make people who don’t like to drink water… drink water. Then you are going to have a really rough time. However if you want to sell water, just find people who are already buying water. I’m telling you, your life is going to be that much easier.
In the first post of this series, we also identified your target market as one person which we identify and call your avatar.
So your avatar would be the name of the person that you put together.
For example for my target market, I have named my avatar, “Violet”.
Now let me tell you a little bit about Violet so that you clearly understand how familiar you should be with your avatar.
Violet is a single mother, and she is between the ages of 30-45. Violet has a college education and has worked in corporate America or corporate UK. Violet is very proficient, smart, she is sound, and she is a go-getter. Violet also understands that corporate just isn’t for her anymore.
She realizes that she is worth far more than what corporate can offer. And she has also recognized that in order to provide the best environment for her child or children she has got to get out there and leverage her own skills and talents and be the success in her own business, that she is simultaneously being a success for in a company building its success and results.
So Violet is going to now transfer those skills over to her own enterprise, she is going to stand on her own two feet. All Violet just needs to know how to do it, where to learn it from and what she needs to do to get started.
See, Violet is who I am speaking to in my marketing. Remember that Violet also wants to work from home, because Violet is a single mom. And she wants to be at home so that she can enjoy doing homework with her child. She wants to be able to take her child or children to Karate class or dance class or attend their school play.
Violet doesn’t want to worry about taking off work, being in the heavy commute, driving through traffic from here to there, or being out of breathe as she runs in to the school throwing on gym shoes as she takes her heals off just to be comfortable and pretending like she is excited to be at the school play.
She wants to be able to be authentic and fully present with her children in all of their activities and working from home in her own business leveraging her existing skills is exactly what Violet wants to do.
So as you can see there is a very clear person that I’m speaking to with my target market. Now let me just share with you this one last point on target market and then we will move right into crafting your message.
Keep in mind that when it comes your target market, remember that it’s just your target. It doesn’t mean that you will not come across people outside of that target market.
Of course you will attract men if you are really talking to Violet, you will attract people younger than 30-45. It’s possible that you will attract people who are not college educated. You may even attract stay at home moms along with single moms.
So it is not exclusive of all these other groups, it is just that you are talking more specifically to that group because you can identify with that group, which is why your message is so valuable.
The Importance Of The Message
Your message is extremely important because this is how, in my case, Violet knows that I am talking directly to her and that I have a solution to her problem.
Likewise, as long as you have your target market identified and your avatar clearly distinguished then you will be able to communicate specifically in your advertising, your videos, your blog post and any type of communication that you have going out.
You will communicate to your avatar in a way that they know that you are speaking directly to them and that you have a solution to their problem. Mainly, your avatar will know that you readily identify with all the things that they are going through.
What is the message really all about?
Well the message is exactly what you’re going to say to hook in your avatar.
Now this is not the 25 minute lengthy message.
This message is just a few lines that will allow you to hook your avatar so that “on site” they know that they want to know more and that what you’re offering possibly pertains to them, and that they actually would like to receive more information. See with this message, you are already implanting the ideas that they want more information.
The Steps To Creating A Powerful Message
So the best way to craft and create your message for your avatar is to do what I like to call the “10-10-10 rule”.
Now the 10-10-10 Rule is something that not too many people know about, I have taught it to a group of students previously through several classes.
It is not something that everybody on the market is using, but I want you to be able to take advantage of this 10-10-10 rule.
Leverage it in your business and begin to see success. As you craft out your message and send out your messages to your target market, more specifically your avatar.
So how does the 10-10-10 work in creating your message?
The First 10
The first 10 of the 10-10-10 rule requires that you think about 10 specific problems that your target market is facing, and how your product, your service, or your opportunity actually solves that specific problem in a very specific way.
So for example, if you sale lower back pain pills, and your target market knows that they have back pain, then some of the problems that your target market may have would be,
“Whenever I go to stand up to reach for the glasses on the top shelf of the cabinet, I feel a tight pinch in my lower back!”
“Whenever I bend down, to help my son pick up his toys and put them in the toy box, I can really feel something tightening up in my back.”
“Whenever I try to work-out and do a stretch over to the right or over to the left, I feel some pain because I had a car accident just about 30 days ago.”
So when you can speak specifically to problems that your target market is facing knowing the trials and challenges that they are having in their life, and you speak very clear to them, then that person can say..
“Yes that’s me. I have that problem!”
So first identify and then write down 10 very specific problems that the people in your target market are having, that you know that your product, service, or opportunity can actually solve.
So that is the first segment of the 10-10-10 rule.
The Second 10
What does the second 10 really mean?
Well the second 10 would be you actually making a compilation of 10 very specific solutions.
Basically you are going to create one solution for each of the 10 problems that you listed in the first 10.
So for example if one of the problems is, “I bend down to try to help pick up the toys with my son, and put the toys in the toy box and I feel a tight pinch in my back.”
Then if you sell back pain pills the solution to that problem would be, “Hey listen what you want to do is to take this pill 30 minutes before you start helping your kids clean up around the house so that you can be a happy healthy mom and you’re not cranky and yelling at your kids throughout the whole process.“
LOL.. I’m a single mom and I’m telling you, sometimes you get to that point where you feel like yelling at these little toddlers. My son is only 19 months, and I do not yell at him, yet sometimes I feel like it, and that is the point. :-)
So you have to streamline exactly how your product is going to be a solution, not the feature, to the problem.
Like the feature might be that it’s a pill that is easily swallowed and doesn’t have a taste.
Yet the benefit to your solution is that if they take it 30 minutes ahead of time they can relieve all of that strain and tension in their back. So that when it’s time for clean up and to get the kids ready and tidied up for bed and they go to start cleaning up the room, they are not stressed, they are not in pain and they are not cranky, so as to yell at their children and create a negative environment where now you have crying unhappy kids in the bathtub and it makes for a horrible night.
So it’s all about the benefits as opposed to the features.
So the first 10 is a list of the 10 problems, and the second 10 would be a list of 10 very specific solutions that highlight benefits, not features.
The Final 10
The final piece of the 10-10-10 rule is that you want to create 10 different headlines that allow you to hook your target market.
If your target market were to come across this headline on a Facebook ad, or in an article, on a blog post, a tweet, a Facebook status update, on Linkedin, on a Pinterest picture, on a photo on Instagram, they would be motivated to request more information.
You’ve got to think about what the things are that are going to hook your target market and create an interest in them for them to want to learn more.
Now the point for them to want to learn more is because you want to generate them as a lead. Of course we are going to cover this at some point in time.
This headline is ultimately going to turn up on what we call a lead capture page. Another item that we will cover later.
Just know that the lead capture page is going to allow your target market, your avatar to put their name and their email on this page to get more information about what you just described in your headline.
So do you see the beauty in how this works?
If you have 10 problems listed out ahead of time and then you have 10 solutions listed out ahead of time. Then you can be creative and create 10 different headlines written out ahead of time.
Now you can go out into the market place, speaking directly to your target market in different angles and then you can test to see which message, which angle, and which headline gets the better response for you and your target market and then, my friend, you know you have a winning message.
So I want you to understand that this is a powerful message that I am sharing with you and those of you that are intuitive enough to listen and actually do these exercises and complete them and put them into action will have a much better advantage over the rest of these people who are reviewing this post saying it’s great and not doing anything about it.
So here is your homework for this post.
The exercise is to create your 10 problems that your target market is having.
Then create the 10 very specific solutions that your product service or opportunity provides to eliminate those problems.
And then I want you to come up with 10 different headlines that speak to your target market at a different angle. Consider maybe coming from 10 or maybe 5 different angles so that you can test, tweak and identify which angle speaks to your target market the most.
Then you are going to flood the market place with this message and attract more leads then you ever captured.
Then you are going to still have to work on converting those leads in to sales. Something we will cover in another post.
So there you are with the message.
Create your messages, create your angles and I’m telling you with your target market and with your message you have a better advantage over everyone else just trying to talk to friends and family or wandering around Walmart or talking to your Dentist or Pediatrician or your Accountant. Basically, spending time speaking to the people who are not interested in starting a business.
See I know Violet wants to start a home based business and I’m going to speak directly to Violet.
You make sure you speak directly to your avatar just the same.
